Last week we headed down to the beach with Grandma, Lissa, Emma and all the kids- except Matt, we traded him for Kyle's friend Henry. Anyway, it wasn't what you would call a great beach day but the kids had tons of fun in the surf and in the sand. Holes were dug (and lounged in), waves were caught (and ridden on), and no one had to worry about getting sunburned!

Great pictures. Reminds me of when I was a kid and my mother (who loved the beach) would pack us up in the morning and we headed to the beach. We'd dig those holes to lay in and find all kinds of fun things to do. We'd actually stay there until dark -- and sometimes longer, wrapped up in blankets as the sun went down. Didn't matter if it was "beach weather" or not!
We did that too except my mother didn't like the ocean so we'd go to Sears Bellows pond. My aunt would come with my two cousins, we'd get there really early so my mom could stake out the only tree on the beach and sometimes we'd stay until my dad and my uncle got off from work and then we'd bar-b-que at the park. There was a trail around the lake that we'd "hike" and the "bungalow birds" always came out to play.
Good times!
So how did Rachael like being at the ocean? I see your dislike for oceans seem to run in your family!!
It's not that i dislike the ocean, I just could never seem to get in past the waves without being knocked over. And now it's just less anxiety producing to be at the bay. Anyway, we had a good time and Rachael was happy playing at the edge or in the sand. I know the boys prefer the ocean now but we'll still have to go to the bay to let Rachael actually swim.
It's fun that you remember Sears Bellows. We practically lived down there in the summer!
I have to agree...but I'm more of a pool person. It's the salt water mixed with sun, I just feel so drained after. But it looks like it was lots of fun!! We'll attempt it next year!
