Rachael and I set off this morning for a leisurely bike ride. We were off to feed the ducks. When we arrived at Phillips' Pond there was a family of swans- Mom, Dad and Baby. We started tossing bread to them and the dad would start to come out of the water and then go back in. We were being very unthreatening, my 2 year old and I but that Dad decided he needed to run us off. Now, those of you who know me well know that I DO NOT like large water fowl. That big guy started coming out of the water so I picked up Rachael and tried to get my bike. There was no stopping him so the bike ended up in the dirt and I started running up the road worrying that he would run after me and not knowing how fast he could go. Luckily some very nice men saw this crazy woman fleeing with her baby and stopped to help us. They retrieved my bike and we were on our way. Rachael still had some bread and wanted to give it to the "ducks" but I talked her into going to the park instead!
PS Jenn, you can stop laughing now!

Nothing has changed with you for many years!!! Still chicken! Glad Rachael wanted to go to the park and save you from more confrontations with the mean old Papa swan! Kidding aside, I would have run too.
Oh man, those swans can be MEAN! Where were they? Our swans seem pretty nice in the creek over here. Made for a great blog entry, though!
I remember as a kid our neighbors had chickens running around their yard and I was scared to death to go out my door because the rooster would always go after me. Ah, good times, good times...
I hate roosters too! And geese, and big 'ol cockatoos and parrots that are loose and...! I wouldn't have been as brave as Jack when the birds at Discovery cove attacked him! :) I knew i'd give everyone a good laugh with that entry! Especially Jenn who said I may have surpassed the Starburst incident!

Rachael was probably oblivious to everything going on. I think I would have like to have seen the incident...America's funniest home video?
Yeah, pretty much! I don't think that it was as funny as the video of Tia that we always wanted to send in though! :)
that may have surpassed my starburst incident...i think it runs just behind Ryan's "run-in" in PA. though. THAT would have won $10,000 for sure.
That makes me laugh and I wasn't even there to see it!
PS I don't get that name
the name? wasn't that the name of the runners song...chariots of fire maybe?
laughing out loud isn't Jenn.
